7-20-2022 Gregorian 566 Natural My fourth day on the road, walking town to town through beautiful Maine. A most remarkable thing is how much free food and medicine grows at the side of the road. Everywhere. No one can stop it, there in abundance. My walk begins at Balance Rock, Bar Harbor, Maine 7-17-2022 Gregorian 563 Natural Balance Rock is considered a glacial erratic. In other words, it is not native to the area and was carried for possibly hundreds of miles by glacial ice and dropped at its current location on the shore at Bar Harbor.
Leaving on a Friday morning in the middle of July headed for one of the most popular summer vacation destinations in the country was bound to be an exercise in patience. Google said I could drive from Southern Virginia to Bar Harbor, Maine in about 15 hours. It took 25 hours bumper to bumper through D.C., Baltimore, Philly, across the George Washington Bridge (at 5 miles per hour), through New York City and on to Maine.
I’d never explored Maine and didn’t realize it dubs itself “Vacationland”. But now that I’m here, I can definitly see why. This is not the sort of walk across America where the goal is to arrive from point A to point B. It’s a new lifetyle, for now, where walking allows time and space to meet the ground and the sky, and the people who dwell in between.
Everything is packed nice, neat and tidy. Now to remember where I put everything. The worst is when you’ve packed a favorite food item and totally forgotten about it.

It’s a new lifetyle, for now, where walking allows time and space to meet the ground and the sky, and the people who dwell in between; and through the process, introduce America to Natural Law.
